This Privacy Policy explains how The Vermillion League LLC ("we," "us," or "our"), operator of deadmensociety.net (the "Site"), collects, uses, and shares information about you when you visit or create an account on the Site.
By using the Site, you agree to the collection and use of information as described here. If you do not agree, please do not use the Site.
Who We Are
The Site is a community platform for stories, discussion, and related content. Questions about this policy or your data can be sent to [email protected].
Information We Collect
- Account information. When you register, we collect information such as your username, email address, and date of birth, along with any profile details you choose to add.
- Content you submit. Posts, comments, forum entries, messages, and other content you create on the Site.
- Payment information. If you purchase a membership or make a payment, that transaction is processed by our payment provider, Stripe. We do not store your full card number on our servers; Stripe handles card data directly.
- Technical and usage data. We and our service providers automatically collect information such as your IP address, browser type, device information, pages viewed, and the dates and times of your visits. Some of this is recorded in our server logs for security and abuse-prevention purposes.
- Cookies and similar technologies. The Site and its providers use cookies and similar technologies to keep you signed in, remember preferences, measure traffic, and (for visitors outside restricted regions) serve advertising. See "Cookies and Advertising" below.
How We Use Your Information
- To operate the Site, create and manage your account, and provide its features.
- To process payments and memberships.
- To maintain security, prevent fraud and abuse, and enforce our rules.
- To understand how the Site is used and improve it.
- To display advertising, where applicable.
- To communicate with you about your account or the Site.
Cookies and Advertising
We use third-party advertising services to display ads on the Site. Advertising is shown only to visitors who are not signed in and to holders of free Civilian accounts. Autocracy members and administrators are never shown third-party advertising, and no third-party advertising script is loaded into their browsers at all.
The advertising services we use are:
- Adsterra — currently active on the Site. Adsterra and its partners may use cookies, pixel tags, and similar technologies to serve and measure advertising. Adsterra content is delivered from the domains effectivecpmnetwork.com and highperformanceformat.com. See the Adsterra Cookies Policy.
- Google AdSense — declared as an authorized seller for the Site, but not currently enabled. If we enable it, third-party vendors including Google use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this and other websites.
Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visits to the Site and/or other sites on the internet.
Your choices:
- An Autocracy membership removes third-party advertising from the Site entirely.
- You may opt out of personalized advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings.
- You can also opt out of some third-party vendors' use of cookies for personalized advertising at aboutads.info/choices.

Region restriction. We do not serve third-party advertising to visitors identified as being in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, or Switzerland. For those visitors no advertising script is loaded and no advertising cookie is set. Identification is by the country of the visitor's network connection as reported by our content delivery provider; where a visitor's country cannot be determined, advertising is served.
Third-Party Services We Rely On
We share limited information with trusted providers who perform services on our behalf. Each processes data under its own privacy policy:

- Supabase — account authentication and database hosting for the Site's data.
- Cloudflare — website hosting, delivery, security, and privacy-focused traffic analytics.
We do not sell your personal information for money.
Your Choices and Rights
- You can review and update your account information by signing in to your profile.
- You can opt out of personalized ads using the links in "Cookies and Advertising" above.
- You can request that we delete your account and associated personal data by contacting [email protected].
- Depending on where you live (for example, under the EU/UK GDPR or the California Consumer Privacy Act), you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or restrict the use of your personal information, and to object to certain processing. To exercise these rights, contact us at the email above.
Data Retention
We keep your information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the Site, comply with our legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements. When information is no longer needed, we take reasonable steps to delete or anonymize it.
Children's Privacy
The Site is intended for adults aged 18 and over. It is not directed to children, and we do not knowingly permit anyone under 18 to register or collect personal information from them. We do not serve personalized advertising to minors. If you believe someone under 18 has provided us information or created an account, contact us and we will take appropriate steps to remove it.
Data Security
We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your information, including encrypted connections and access controls. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, however, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Last updated" date above. Significant changes may be announced on the Site. Your continued use of the Site after changes take effect means you accept the updated policy.
